"Ne faire confiance qu'aux artistes, les seuls à savoir transfigurer l'horreur en beauté" - Jean-Paul Montanari

Last Friday, we said goodbye to Jean-Paul Montanari, who passed away at the age of 77 after a long illness. As the director of the Festival International Montpellier Danse, he dedicated his life to the art form he loved so deeply. The festival is one of the most important platforms devoted exclusively to contemporary dance. Rosas and Anne Teresa hold warm memories of him, of his festival, and of Montpellier — a place where he presented nearly every Rosas production. Just last summer, we were welcomed there with Il Cimento dell’Armonia e dell’Inventione. Though visibly weakened at the time, many memories were shared of the extraordinary years we spent together.
