Starting 17 November 2016, the Ballet of the Opera of Lyon will be dancing Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s choreography to the well-known Grosse Fuge by Ludwig van Beethoven. The work will be presented alongside two other Grosse Fuge interpretations by prominent choreographers Lucinda Childs and Maguy Marin. The performance will run in the Opera of Lyon until 25 November and will then go on tour across France. Die Grosse Fuge first featured in De Keersmaeker’s creation Erts (1992), her first performance as choreographer in residence for the Brussels De Munt/La Monnaie theatre. She reinterpreted the piece in 1994 for the performance Kinok.
In 2015, the Ballet of the Opera of Lyon had already added Drumming to its repertoire.
