FORÊT, un film d’Evi Cats – d’après le spectacle Forêt d’Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker et Némo Flouret – en ouverture des Journées du Film sur l’Art le 5 mars
Souvenez-vous : en 2022, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker et le jeune chorégraphe français Némo Flouret ont conçu et chorégraphié Forêt, une performance spécialement créée pour la Grande Galerie et les « Salles Rouges », au cœur des collections des maîtres italiens et français du Louvre. Evi Cats – qui collabore régulièrement avec Rosas depuis 2022 – a suivi les répétitions et les représentations et en a fait un film personnel et immersif, qui plonge le public au cœur de la performance live. Onze danseurs qui cherchent une issue, affrontant et fuyant tornades, naufrages et villes en feu. Ces tableaux performatifs convoquent des images qui résonnent incontestablement avec notre époque. Se faisant la plus discrète possible, la caméra se déplace entre les danseurs et les spectateurs, alternant plans rapprochés intimes et plans larges de l’imposant décor muséal. La dramaturgie musicale a été confiée à Alain Franco. Plutôt que de rivaliser avec la grandeur du Louvre, sa bande-son « kaléidoscopique » circule dans l’espace et l’investit, à la recherche d’une connexion avec le public. Mona Lisa a le dernier mot, mais qui s’en étonnera puisque nous sommes au Louvre.
Evi Cats (1994) est cinéaste ; elle vit et travaille à Bruxelles. Walls That Scream, son documentaire sur les traces de violence policière à Bruxelles, a été présenté en avant-première à l’IDFA 2022 et a décroché l’année suivante le VAF Wildcard. Waiting For a Sun Storm, a pour thème la ville (féministe), ses strates du tissu urbain et du temps. Il a remporté le prix du meilleur court métrage étudiant belge (« Beste Belgische Studentenkortfilm ») au Film Fest Gent.
